Yarra River Business Association

Overview

Since late 1998 the Yarra River Business Association has actively represented the interests of small to medium businesses located on and along the river.

As a result, the Lower Yarra business community has real input to the planning and operational decisions made for the area by the many and various organizations involved with river governance.

The Association operates as one of the five business precincts established by the City of Melbourne. The two-way flow of information between the precinct and the Council is one of the most beneficial features of the structure.

The City of Melbourne provides the Association with an annual operating grant, which is used to operate a professional secretariat and to engage marketing assistance. The grant is augmented by membership fees contributed by local businesses.

Precinct Business Plan

The Association's Business Plan, which sets direction for the Lower Yarra and its Precinct Association between 2008-2011, was reviewed in July 2009. To view a copy, please click here.

Membership

The annual membership fee is $160 + gst

Members receive regular newsletters and email bulletins about issues and events on and within the Yarra-Southbank area, as well as notification of special business marketing opportunities. Member 'get-togethers' are held throughout the year to increase information flow and to boost the sense of a business 'community'.

The Association also has a role in marketing the Lower Yarra River as a more integrated tourism and recreation precinct. Close ties with Tourism Victoria, the Victorian Tourism industry Council, Parks Victoria and Melbourne Visitor Services are valuable alliances.

If you're interested in becoming a Association member, or to receive more information about membership, please email the Executive Officer at bracher@satlink.com.au or telephone (03) 9787 0962
