Melbourne is a city crammed full of art: traditional and contemporary; static and living.

The Yarra River Precinct is the hub of Melbourne’s artistic and cultural scene. Probably nowhere in the world is there such a concentration
of high quality visual and performing arts venues, quite apart from a very generous sprinkling of
public art and exciting architecture on display.

This short walk can take anything from 90 minutes to a whole day, depending on how much time you
want to spend at each venue. In fact, for the arts lover, it could provide an entire week of enjoyment and stimulation.

Signal is a creative studio 13 – 20 year olds, that provides opportunities for young people to work alongside professional artists across all art forms. Located in the heart of the city, Signal’s high-quality facilities include projective windows, an 18-speaker sound walk, multimedia lab and workshop, performance and gallery spaces.

St Johns is no ordinary church. As well as regular church services and being open daily for quiet reflection, St Johns encourages a program of music and art. Performances by visiting international artists, opera, chamber music, jazz and art exhibitions all have a place in this tranquil corner of the precinct.
